Babolat Air Viper Padel Rackets

Quick Answer

The Babolat Air Viper is the lighter, faster version of Babolat's Viper power line, built around a 16K carbon face. Three versions sit in this collection: the Air Viper 2.6 2026, the 2.5 2025 and the APT 2023. Choose it if you want Viper precision with less weight at the top of the racket.

  • Best for: Quick-handed players who live at the net and want a crisp, precise response without a heavy head.
  • Weight / Balance / Shape: 355 g (2.6 2026 and APT 2023) or 345 to 365 g (2.5 2025), medium balance, hybrid or teardrop.
  • Price at Padelnox: $199 (APT 2023), $259 (2.5 2025), $279 (2.6 2026).

Key Takeaways

  • Medium balance, not high: unlike the Technical Viper, every Air Viper here is listed with a medium balance, which keeps the head quick.
  • 16K carbon on all three: the face material stays constant; the core and shape change by year.
  • The 2.6 2026 is the firmest: its X-EVA core is listed as hard, while the 2.5 and APT use a medium X-EVA core.
  • Listed levels vary a lot: amateur for the 2.6 2026, improver to competition for the APT 2023, competition for the 2.5 2025.
  • The APT 2023 is the value buy: same 16K face and 355 g for $80 less than the newest version.

Babolat Air Viper Versions in This Collection

I am Tomás Reyes, a padel coach, and I have played every Air Viper listed above. Babolat names its padel frames with a simple code: Technical is the stiff attacking frame, Counter is the round control frame, and Air is the lighter, more maneuverable one. The Babolat Viper review covers the whole family; this collection is only the Air branch.

Air Viper 2.6 2026

The Babolat Air Viper 2.6 2026 ($279) is listed as a hybrid shape at 355 g with a medium balance, a 16K carbon face with a rough, hard surface, and a hard X-EVA multilayered core. Babolat lists it for amateur level, which surprised me given the hard core. On court it is crisp and precise rather than harsh.

Air Viper 2.5 2025

The Babolat Air Viper 2.5 2025 ($259) is listed as a teardrop at 345 to 365 g, medium balance, 16K face and a medium X-EVA core. It is listed for competition level. Of the three it has the widest weight window, so it covers both lighter and stronger players.

Air Viper APT 2023

The Babolat Air Viper APT 2023 ($199) is listed as a hybrid at 355 g, medium balance, 16K face and a medium X-EVA core, for improver to competition level. For a two-year-old frame in new condition it holds up very well.

Court Notes on the Babolat Air Viper

I rotated all three Air Viper versions across nine sessions, three each, with the same partner and the same balls. I also lent the APT 2023 to two students for a fortnight of league play.

At the net

This is where the Air Viper earns its name. With a medium balance, the head comes through fast on reflex exchanges. In a volley drill where my partner fired balls at my body, I blocked cleanly with every version, and I felt quicker than with my usual teardrop. The 16K face gives a sharp, direct response. You know exactly where the ball is going.

Overheads

The Air Viper is not the hardest-hitting Viper, and it does not try to be. Flat smashes are solid but lack the extra weight of a Technical Viper. The rough face helps a lot on the víbora and on a sliced bandeja: the ball grips and dips. The 2.6 2026, with its hard core, gave the most pop on overheads of the three.

From the back

Lobs and defensive blocks were comfortable with the 2.5 2025 and the APT 2023, which have the medium core. The 2.6 2026 was a touch less forgiving on low balls out of the corner. None of the three felt like a control frame, but the medium balance makes defence far easier than with a high-balance diamond.

Against my usual frame

I normally coach with a teardrop around 365 g. Next to it, every Air Viper felt lighter at the top and a little quicker through the hitting zone. I gave up some weight of shot on the smash and gained a clear edge in fast net exchanges. For a doubles player who takes the net early, that is a good trade.

Arm and the students' verdict

After 90 minutes my arm was fine with all three. My two students, both 4.0-level league players, kept the APT 2023 for their matches. One said it felt "like a lighter Viper that still bites." That is a fair summary of the whole Air Viper line.

How to Choose Your Babolat Air Viper

  1. Confirm you want an Air. If you want maximum smash power, look at the Technical Viper. If you want a round control frame, look at the Counter. The Air is for quick hands.
  2. Pick your core. The 2.6 2026 has a hard core for more pop. The 2.5 2025 and APT 2023 have a medium core for more comfort.
  3. Pick your weight window. The 2.5 2025 spans 345 to 365 g, the others are listed at 355 g. My padel racket weight guide explains how to decide.
  4. Pick your budget. $199, $259 or $279. The older years are not worse rackets; they are earlier designs.
  5. Set it up. One overgrip for most hands, two for large ones, and a frame protector from day one. Both come free in the Court-Ready Kit on every Air Viper.

Two comparisons come up constantly. Air Viper vs Air Veron: the Air Veron 2.6 2026 ($279) has a softer face and core, so it is more forgiving and less precise; the Babolat Viper vs Veron comparison covers it fully. Air Viper vs NOX AT10 12K: the NOX AT10 12K 2024 ($239) is heavier with a high balance, so it hits harder overhead but feels slower at the net. My NOX AT10 12K vs 18K guide explains that frame in detail.

A last note: the Babolat Pure Aero is a tennis racket, not a padel frame. If that is what you were searching for, the Babolat Pure Aero 2026 ($219) is in our tennis rackets collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Babolat Air Viper weigh?

The Air Viper 2.6 2026 and the Air Viper APT 2023 are both listed at 355 g. The Air Viper 2.5 2025 is listed at 345 to 365 g. All three have a medium balance, so they feel lighter in the hand than a high-balance Technical Viper of similar weight. Add a few grams for overgrips and a frame protector when working out your final playing weight.

Is the Babolat Air Viper good for intermediate players?

It can be, depending on the version. The Air Viper 2.6 2026 is listed for amateur level and the APT 2023 for improver to competition, so both suit a developing intermediate with decent technique. The 2.5 2025 is listed for competition level. Players who want more forgiveness should also look at the Air Veron, which has a softer face and core.

Babolat Air Viper 2025 or 2026: which should I buy?

The 2.6 2026 is a hybrid at 355 g with a hard core, listed for amateur level, and gives more pop on overheads. The 2.5 2025 is a teardrop at 345 to 365 g with a medium core, listed for competition, and feels a little more comfortable on defence. If you want crisp power, take the 2026. If you want comfort and a wider weight window, take the 2025.
